PORTLAND, OR--(Marketwire - March 24, 2009) - Pacific
Seafood, a family-owned seafood company based in Portland, Ore., will
participate as a major sponsor of SOLV's
25th annual Great Oregon
Spring Beach Cleanup on Saturday, March 28, 2009 from 10:00 a.m. to
1:00 p.m. For the fourth consecutive year, Pacific Seafood employees and
family members will team up with thousands of other volunteers to help
clean up the state's beaches and surrounding areas.
"Pacific Seafood is proud to once again be a part of the Great Oregon
Spring Beach Cleanup," said Frank Dulcich, president and CEO of Pacific Seafood Group. "Cleaning
up our local coastline not only helps our oceans and coastal communities
remain protected and beautiful, but is critical to ensuring a safe and
sustainable seafood supply for years to come."
The Great Oregon Spring Beach Cleanup covers the entire 362 miles of the
Oregon coastline, and last year's efforts removed an estimated 111,000
pounds of trash. The event, which started in Oregon in 1984, has since
spread to every state in the nation as well as nearly 100 countries and
sovereign territories.
Pacific Seafood supports a variety of causes and organizations throughout
the year. In addition to sponsoring SOLV's annual Great Oregon Spring Beach
Cleanup, Pacific Seafood is a major supporter of the Oregon Food Bank and recently
donated 10,000 pounds of seafood to the organization as part of its 2009
"Great Food Drive." The company also donated 40,000 pounds of seafood in
December to Northwest
Harvest, Washington's statewide hunger relief agency, which was the
largest seafood donation ever for the organization.
