OVERLAND PARK, KS--(Marketwire - April 15, 2009) - Secure Passage, the leading provider of
automated security analysis and compliance solutions for firewalls, routers
and switches, today announced strong results for the first quarter of 2009
for sales of its flagship solution, FireMon. FireMon is the industry's only
fully automated configuration change monitoring, analysis and auditing
solution that reduces complexity and the cost of security and compliance.
Secure Passage experienced an increase of 161 percent in global sales
revenues over the first quarter of 2008. More than 200 enterprise and
government customers are now using FireMon to analyze configuration changes
on more than 25,000 distributed network devices. In addition to these
substantial growth numbers, Secure Passage bolstered its leadership with
the appointment of industry veteran, pioneer, inventor, and company
co-founder Jody Brazil to the position of president and CTO.
A driving force behind demand for Secure Passage's solution in a struggling
economy continues to be enterprises' need to do more with less.
Simultaneously, companies are being forced to address new compliance
pressures with data protection laws and regulations (including PCI DSS,
HIPAA, and Basel), as well as evolving security threats. These factors are
forcing organizations to implement automated analysis solutions that reduce
operational costs and complexity while raising security and compliance
postures for increasing numbers of network security devices.
Customer Momentum
Direct and channel resellers continued to supply demand for FireMon from
markets in the Americas, EMEA and APAC regions. Marquee customers added
during Q1 '09 include a leading provider of voice, video and data services
across America and the world; an international supplier of industrial goods
and prefabricated housing; an international provider of software and
services; and several retail banking institutions. Secure Passage's direct
sales team and its channel partners secured these key wins.
"Secure Passage is continuing to experience strong demand for its automated
security analysis and compliance solution for firewalls, routers and
switches. Enterprises and government agencies are facing the reality that
understanding network security device configurations is a pivotal part of
network security and compliance, and that automation is key to lowering
costs," said Jody Brazil, Secure Passage co-founder, president and CTO.
"Our solution, FireMon, provides the information needed to ensure security
and prove compliance so customers not only lower the overall costs of
security and compliance, they also reduce complexity and gain full
confidence in their network security devices."
Product Innovation
The launch of FireMon 4.2 was a driving force behind bolstered sales in the
first quarter. Secure Passage's automated approach to monitoring and
analyzing configuration changes in network security devices, scalability,
extensibility, and policy and device optimization capabilities position
FireMon well ahead of any competitors as the preferred monitoring and
analysis solution available today.
Thought Leadership
Secure Passage's survey on firewall policies asked 253 IT network, firewall
and security representatives from Fortune 1000 companies about the
security, compliance and performance implications of policy complexity.
Although survey respondents acknowledged that firewall policies are overly
complex and that their IT teams need help dealing with this issue, too few
organizations understand the full impact of the problem. The survey
revealed that poor firewall management practices lead to security gaps,
compliance violations, substandard firewall performance, and premature
device purchases. The survey also revealed that although organizations are
experiencing more compliance and security challenges due to increasing
firewall policy complexity, few know about solutions or have access to
resources that can address these challenges. The survey results are
available at www.securepassage.com.
