UHY Advisors FLVS Introduces Tristan(TM), New Kit for On-Site Collection of Electronic Data
| Source: UHY Advisors
HOUSTON, TX--(Marketwire - April 16, 2009) - UHY Advisors FLVS, Inc. announced the
introduction of Tristan, a collection kit that gives corporate law
departments the flexibility to forensically collect electronic data from
desktop and laptop computers in remote locations. After returning the
Tristan kit, appropriate data can be extracted from the computer image and
be processed for electronic discovery review.
The self-collection kit includes the necessary hardware and software,
step-by-step instructions, on-site documentation, chain-of-custody
materials and help desk support to assist users with the process of
collecting electronic data at their own sites. In fewer than 15 minutes,
the user can start downloading the contents of their hard drive and once
the image is complete, return it in a pre-addressed UPS or FedEx box to UHY
Advisors forensic lab for subsequent activity.
Tristan kits are available at a fixed cost per imaged hard drive. The
offering has been beta tested and field-proven nationwide, with most
corporate users experiencing cost savings of more than 70% by eliminating
travel costs and other expenses required for typical on-site data
collection.
"Tristan is a real breakthrough in the electronic discovery services
marketplace because it is the first fixed-price toolkit that allows
companies to remotely capture data without running up the substantial
travel and professional fee expenses of sending teams of specialists to
various remote locations where the data is located," said Douglas Herman,
managing director of the e-discovery and digital forensics practice group
at UHY Advisors FLVS. "This kind of remote collection of electronic data
has been very difficult to date because of the sensitive nature of the
process, but the Tristan kit makes it as easy as downloading music from
iTunes."
According to Herman, the name Tristan is an abbreviated version of Tristan
da Cunha, an island in the Southern Atlantic Ocean halfway between Buenos
Aires, Argentina and Capetown, South Africa that has been called the most
remote place on earth.
"The duty to properly preserve electronic data at the onset of potential
litigation or internal investigation is one of the most important
responsibilities of any in-house law department, but this duty to preserve
can be extremely costly if the company has multiple locations involved,"
said Eric Shirk, principal and technical consultant in the e-discovery and
digital forensics practice group at UHY Advisors FLVS. "Tristan is based
on the proven methodology that our firm has used in hundreds of on-site
data collection engagements and each of our kits is carefully assembled by
our digital forensics team. This offering minimizes travel costs and other
expenses associated with the preservation process, while ensuring that the
data collection activities are performed according to sound forensics
standards."
