Family Ties -- New Book is An Engaging Account of a Family's Experiences and History

LAS VEGAS, April 16, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- From the Dust Bowl and the Great Depression to entertaining on the Las Vegas Strip, this is one family's eventful journey! Accompany author Wanieta Isaacs as she takes you through more than a century of family history - through good times and bad, laughter and tears - and shares her fascinating story in Family Whispers: From The Front Porch.

For years, Wanieta begged her mom to write a book about their family experiences because of the interesting and colorful variety in their lives. After all, her mom kept a diary dating back to 1924 going all the way to 1992! The wealth of information about their immediate family was almost unreal. But, in the end, it was Wanieta who wrote the book. She believes that the experiences of the lives before our own are ingrained in our genes and the combination of our individuality make each of us what we are. Knowing our history then would help us understand ourselves better.

In Family Whispers, Wanieta shares some of the stories she heard at special times when their parents reminisced, and relived valuable memories that could never be replaced. She hopes that their descendants will feel they really knew their ancestors as real flesh-and-blood people with individual personalities - instead of just names and faces in a family tree.

About the Author

Wanieta Vess Isaacs was born in Midland City, Illinois, in 1931. Later in life, when she realized much of the shared experiences of her family were being lost, especially to the younger generations, she started writing a newsletter. This encouraged her to write a family book and, since her mother had a diary that dated from 1924 to 1992, that helped immensely. She has written two family books preceding Family Whispers.
