BASKING RIDGE, NJ--(Marketwire - May 11, 2009) - Avaya Inc., a leader in business
communications applications, systems and services, today announced that it
will host a free webinar on May 12 that will detail how enterprises can
alleviate the potential impact of pandemics on business operations. The
recent concern of the the A/H1N1 virus has increased awareness that
businesses need to plan appropriately to be able to keep business operating
smoothly during and after an unforeseen event.
The webinar, entitled "Mitigating Impact of Pandemic Risk in the
Enterprise," will address best practices for creating a communications
continuity plan that allows enterprises to address employee concerns and
continue to manage their businesses effectively during these events. It
will be hosted by Michael Oliver-Goodwin, contributing editor at VoIP-News,
and will include expert guests on healthcare and business continuity from
Avaya and Polycom.
On April 29, 2009, the World Health Organization (W.H.O.) issued an
elevated pandemic alert regarding A/H1N1 virus. The concerns around
continuity planning have come to the forefront as companies and
organizations realize that their current business continuity plans may not
adequately address requirements for social distancing during a pandemic.
Recognizing that communications are essential to keeping businesses and
organizations operational during unexpected events, global communication
technology leaders Avaya and Polycom initiated an effort to educate
businesses on how to rapidly prepare their communications for this type of
emergency.
The "Mitigating Impact of Pandemic Risk in the Enterprise" webinar will be
presented on May 12 at 10:00 am (Pacific)/1:00 pm (Eastern). In addition to
VOIP-News Contributing Editor Michael Oliver-Goodwin as the host, the
webinar will feature Craig Wilson, principal, Business Communication
Consulting, Avaya; Dr. Deborah A Jeffries, director of Healthcare Markets,
Polycom; and Steve Hardy, director of product marketing, Avaya Unified
Communication Business Unit. The webinar will focus on topics including:

technology.
