Formation of New Jersey Licensed Site Remediation Professionals Association Is Announced

MOUNT LAUREL, NJ--(Marketwire - May 18, 2009) - Ewire -- The New Jersey Licensed Site Remediation Professionals Association, Inc. is proud to announce its formation. The association was created in response to the recent enactment of the Site Remediation Reform Act, which was signed into law by Governor Jon S. Corzine on May 7, 2009. The Site Remediation Reform Act creates a licensing program for site remediation professionals (Licensed Site Remediation Professionals, or LSRPs) to foster the cleanup of contaminated properties in New Jersey.

Currently, site remediation professionals work in both the public and private sector to investigate and clean up contaminated sites in New Jersey. The profession relies on highly skilled and experienced professionals from many scientific and engineering disciplines. The LSRP Association is dedicated to the professional development of its members through education, information sharing, networking and other efforts to help its members maintain and improve their professional skills.

According to Nick DeRose, a Senior Principal at Langan Engineering and a leader of the LSRP Association Steering Committee, "The LSRP Association will work to advance the practice of the LSRPs to serve our New Jersey communities and stakeholders, as well as to foster its members' professional development. Our mission includes promoting standards of care and the use of informed professional judgment by LSRPs to protect public health, safety and the environment."

According to Sue Boyle, senior environmental practice leader at GEI Consultants and another leader of the Steering Committee, "The enactment of the Site Remediation Reform Act significantly changes how site cleanups will be administered in New Jersey, and places responsibility on LSRPs to uphold the code of conduct that will be established by the state's Licensing Board. The LSRP Association will serve as a trade association for the profession and will be an important voice for LSRPs with the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection and the Licensing Board."
