INDIANAPOLIS, IN--(Marketwire - May 26, 2009) - Health Systems International (HSI), a
global provider of outsourced medical cost management solutions, has
announced a Reporting Solution for Group Health, Workers' Compensation,
Liability, and Auto Insurance for Centers for Medicare and Medicaid
Services (CMS) Mandatory Insurer Reporting Requirements.
On August 1, 2008, CMS released a statement clarifying the Mandatory
Insurer Reporting Requirements legislation that affects HSI clients and
prospects in those specific Group Health Plan and Non-Group Health markets.
The legislation states that companies meeting the definition of CMS's
Responsible Reporting Entity (RRE) are required to submit information on
work-related injury claims involving Medicare beneficiaries on a quarterly
basis in the format required by CMS. If companies are not sure whether or
not they meet RRE status, HSI works clients through that process. The
Mandatory Insurer Reporting Requirements carry significant penalties for
non-compliance, specifically a civil penalty of $1,000.00 per day per claim
if applicable claimants are not reported in a "timely" manner.
"HSI is committed to protecting our clients," stated Mike Hoover, President
of the HSI Specialty Services Division. "We have finalized all electronic
data interfaces necessary to submit data to CMS and comply with the
legislation, and we are up and running as a Reporting Agent for our
clients. We have an entire team focused on CMS timelines, requirements
monitoring, registration, testing and 'live data' exchange. We felt it
would be more beneficial for our clients to have one place to go for their
reporting needs."
