NKK Switches Announces JB Series of Illuminated Subminiature Tactile Switches
Series Offers Design Engineers Greater Flexibility and Cost Savings

SCOTTSDALE, AZ--(Marketwire - July 21, 2009) - NKK Switches, the world's leading designer
and manufacturer of innovative electromechanical switching devices,
announces the availability of the JB series of illuminated subminiature
tactile switches. Designed for the unique challenges facing many of today's
engineers, these switches provide a flexible solution to meet the demand
for aesthetically pleasing designs while at the same time reducing costs.
JB Series switches provide engineers with full face illumination in a
selection of LED colors in red, green or yellow. An array of cap styles and
colors including flat translucent, flat with lens and diffusers or button
framed can also be specified.
In addition, design engineers can choose from two actuator heights, and
between standard or high operating force in relation to the series' sturdy
dome contacts -- the high operating force models offering more pronounced
feedback to help ensure positive circuit transfer.
Custom keyboards can also be designed with switches and caps already
installed and fit through panel cutouts. Unique legends can be easily added
via laser etching, also provided by NKK Switches.
The switches are 10mm square, with straight PC. Terminals are slanted to
provide a spring type action, ensuring secure PCB mounting that prevents
dislodging during wave soldering. Terminal spacing conforms to standard
.100" (2.54mm) PCB grid.
The JB Series also features a rubber seal construction that prevents
contact contamination and allows automated soldering and cleaning. The
process sealed construction also helps provide a long mechanical and
electrical life of 5 million operations minimum.
The JB Series switches are single pole single throw (SPST) with a momentary
circuit and rated at 50mA@24V DC maximum for standard operating force
models, and 125mA@24V DC maximum for high operating force models. Operating
temperature range is -25 to 70 degrees Celsius.
A leading designer and producer of electromechanical switches, NKK Switches
offers one of the industry's most extensive selections of illuminated,
process sealed, miniature, specialty, surface mount and programmable
switches. NKK manufactures more than 3.5 million toggle, rocker,
pushbutton, slide, rotary, DIP rotary, keypad and keylock switches, each of
which can be used as the foundation of a customized design. All switches
are designed and manufactured to provide the quality and dependability that
has made NKK the benchmark for reliability for over half a century.
NKK continues to lead the industry in responding to the needs of the
marketplace with innovation, high reliability, customization and a
commitment to excellence. The company provides a full suite of
customization solutions that include: design, programming, printing and
support. Downloadable 3D CAD models of the company's switches are
available, allowing design engineers to quickly integrate complex models
into their designs at no charge. NKK maintains a complete network of
