PIMCO Holds Its First Annual Global Week of Volunteering

Employees Around the World Give Back to Their Communities


NEWPORT BEACH, CA--(Marketwire - July 28, 2009) - Recently more than 300 PIMCO employees around the globe participated in the firm's annual Global Week of Volunteering, capturing the spirit of First Lady Michelle Obama's call for a summer of service initiatives through the administration's "United We Serve" program.

For 2009, PIMCO's theme was "Reaching Out," with employees in eight offices participating in 19 diverse projects aimed at improving the lives and health of less fortunate community members.

The Global Week of Volunteering is sponsored by PIMCO Partners, the firm's employee volunteer and community outreach program which encourages PIMCO employees to invest time and talent to make their communities better places to live, learn and work.

Activities this year included:

--  London -- Participated in the JP Morgan Chase Corporate Challenge to
    support SportsAid.
--  New York -- Holding job preparation and interview skills workshops for
    Women In Need, Inc
--  Newport Beach -- Cleaning up Salt Creek Beach in conjunction with OC
    Parks, serving food at Someone Cares Soup Kitchen and sorting and crating
    food at Share Our Selves
--  Singapore -- Spending a day with at-risk children at The Bird Park
--  Hong Kong -- Walking dogs at the Hong Kong Dog Rescue Shelter
--  Sydney -- Preparing a lunchtime meal at The Wayside Chapel to needy
    community members.
--  Tokyo -- Holding a recycling drive with proceeds from recycled items
    donated to Vaccines for the World's Children
--  Toronto -- Sorting food at the Daily Bread Food Bank
