UNH Utilizes Arasan Chip Systems' MIPI(r) SLIMbus(r) Compliance Suite

Arasan's SLIMbus(r) Compliance Suite Enables UNH-IOL Validation

SAN JOSE, Calif., Aug. 12, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Arasan Chip Systems, Inc. ("Arasan"), a leading provider of Intellectual Property (IP) Cores, announced that the University of New Hampshire InterOperability Laboratory (UNH-IOL) is utilizing its SLIMbus(r) Compliance Suite to enable system designers to thoroughly test the compliance of their solutions with the SLIMbus(r) v1.01.00 specification.

The SLIMbus(r) protocol was developed by the MIPI(r) Alliance with the objective of replacing a myriad of proprietary buses with an efficient two-wire multi-drop topology. The protocol is optimized to carry digital audio and control information. The simple two-wire bus relieves PCB routing congestion and eases integration of new features.

Arasan's SLIMbus(r) Compliance Suite consists of an Exerciser tool to generated traffic and an Analyzer that captures and processes SLIMbus(r) transactions. These tools run on a Microsoft Windows XP (SP3) based host with a custom PCIe board which physically monitors the two-wire SLIMbus(r) interface. The analyzer snoops the two-wire SLIMbus(r) in order to detect, classify and store protocol packets.

System and SoC designers have long relied on the independent and rigorous compliance testing at UNH-IOL. Now, they can also test their SLIMbus(r) implementations at UNH-IOL by using Arasan's SLIMbus(r) Compliance Suite.

"Arasan is playing a key role in the standardization of SLIMbus(r) with the release of their SLIMbus(r) Compliance Suite," said Bob Noseworthy, Chief Engineer at UNH-IOL. "By leveraging Arasan's SLIMbus(r) protocol expertise, integrators will be able to use the SLIMbus(r) Compliance Suite to verify the compliance of their systems."

By using Arasan's SLIMbus(r) Protocol Compliance Suite, SoC system designers can quickly verify and debug potential protocol violations. The suite can be used to perform real-time or post-processing analysis by configuring event triggers, alerts and storing transactions.

"As a long standing Contributing member of the MIPI(r) Alliance, Arasan has deep engagements with the MIPI(r) ecosystem," said Richard Timpa, Executive Vice President at Arasan. "UNH-IOL is the world's premier independent testing facility and we are pleased that UNH is utilizing Arasan's SLIMBbus(r) Compliance Suite for certification of protocol compliance."

Arasan MIPI(r) IP portfolio consists of UniPro(sm), SLIMbus(r), CSI, DSI, HSI controllers and the D-PHY. Arasan provides a "Total IP Solution" for these MIPI(r) controllers.
