AERT Launches New Fire Rated Deck Board

SPRINGDALE, Ark., Aug. 17, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Advanced Environmental Recycling Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq:AERT), a leading plastic recycler and manufacturer of Green building products, announced today that AERT's latest innovation, MoistureShield FR, has been approved by the California State Fire Marshall for use as a Wildland Urban Interface (WUI) product.

The California Building Commission adopted the Wildland-Urban Interface (WUI) codes in late 2005 to establish ignition resistant construction standards in the wildland urban interface, and to determine appropriate construction materials for new buildings in these areas. AERT's MoistureShield FR has been approved by the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection and is listed as an approved decking product in the recently published WUI Products Handbook.

MoistureShield FR is also the only truly reversible composite decking product, and is available in three colors and in 12, 16 and 20 foot lengths. MoistureShield FR is the first UL tested Green decking product, which provides a smart and environmentally conscious alternative to PVC.

Commenting on new MoistureShield FR, AERT Vice President of Sales, Brent Gwatney stated, "It was important to communities located in fire hazard severity zones that we create a decking product that would hold up to stringent WUI regulations. AERT also recognized the demand for a reversible board to save contractors both time and money. MoistureShield FR offers the solution to both concerns with a truly Green decking product backed by a limited lifetime warranty."

MoistureShield decking is made from over 90% recycled content. It is manufactured using recycled wood fibers and polyethylene plastic such as milk jugs, grocery bags, and/or packaging films. For additional information please visit www.moistureshield.com.
