The Linley Group Hosts Inaugural, Two-Day Processor Conference

Top Technologists Address Processor Architecture, Design and IP for Networking and Communications

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA--(Marketwire - September 2, 2009) - Extending its trademark processor event from one to two days, The Linley Group today announced that the Linley Tech Processor Conference will take place September 16-17, 2009, at the Doubletree Hotel in San Jose, Calif. Providing a forum for new product announcements, lively panel discussions and networking opportunities, the event will bring together some of the leading minds in processor design and architecture, and provide designers of networking and telecommunications systems the information they need to make technical decisions. The event will also commemorate The Linley Group's tenth year as one of the industry's most respected authorities on the semiconductor market.

"We've always approached market analysis in a slightly unconventional way, emphasizing in-depth product and technology research rather than simply focusing on market statistics," said Linley Gwennap, president and principal analyst of The Linley Group. "Our approach has made us the definitive source for information on semiconductors for networking, communications, mobile and wireless. We have successfully brought that focus to our seminars over the last decade. Now, with an expanded two-day event, we will significantly increase the amount of detailed technical information we provide on all types of processors and the supporting ecosystem."

The single-track event will include 20 technical presentations and four panels from a wide range of processor suppliers. Presentations will touch on a variety of topics including multicore processors for data-plane and control-plane applications; broadband gateway processors; and processor IP and the architecture ecosystem. In addition, Freescale and LSI will make initial public disclosures in their respective conference presentations. Markus Levy, president of the Embedded Microprocessor Benchmark Consortium (EEMBC) and the Multicore Association, will host a panel on processor performance with representatives from Cisco, the Home Gateway Initiative, Nokia Siemens Networks and SonicWall.

At the conference, Gwennap will reflect back on the last 10 years in the processor industry and provide his perspective on the trends that will shape the next decade. A grand reception and 10-year anniversary celebration will take place on September 16 at 5 p.m. Attendees will have an opportunity to visit vendor exhibits and network with industry leaders during the cocktail reception.

The Linley Group offers free attendance to qualified registrants who sign up by September 10. For more information on the conference program and to register, please visit http://www.linleygroup.com/Seminars/processor_conference_2009.html
