Robo.to Launches TV Mode, Enables Users to "Watch the Web" in a Series of Four-Second Clips
Video Updates Stream in Robo.to "Statusphere" on Real-Time, User-Generated Channels

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - September 21, 2009) - Particle, the company that builds
massively small products for Web and mobile, today unveiled TV Mode for Robo.to, a new visual status application that is
quickly gaining popularity worldwide.
TV Mode allows users to create personalized TV channels using hashtags,
keywords, or individual people, then view user-generated video status
updates of trending topics, flipping from one Robo.to on that topic to the
next.
Launched in May 2009, Robo.to lets users record short video clips
communicating their current mood, activity or location. The four-second
clips are accompanied by text status updates wherever they are sent and
integrate with social media sites such as Twitter, Facebook and Flickr.
Robo.to brings a new type of personal expression and creativity to social
networking.
TV Mode allows viewers to follow specific topics of interest and tune into
other user-generated status videos with those who are part of the same
conversation, interested in the same topic, or doing the same thing at the
same time. For example, Robo.to users created the #fashionfriday channel to
share what they were wearing. With TV Mode, followers scan from one fashion
clip to the next and can "like" videos of the best entries. These video
updates truly represent what the Web looks like in real-time.
"The social, mobile Web makes it possible for people all over the world to
participate in real-time global discussions," said Rey Flemings, Particle
CEO. "The amount of user-generated content created in response to major
events is staggering. The tools to follow and understand these Web-wide
conversations have not kept pace with the growth in the conversations. If
a picture is worth a thousand words, Robo.to TV Mode offers a wealth of
insight into the people and the conversations happening on the Internet and
around the world."
Robo.to clips, also referred to as "video avatars," are recorded by users
on a Web-cam or cell phone. Such real-time, visual updates extend a status
message beyond text to share the latest activity, location or status in a
tiny calling card that stays more current than a static image.
