According to Erickson, AKYI's low cost, hardened security, USB AccessKey provides all the security advantages of the STB, including watermarking, but on a PC. When inserting the USB AccessKey into a PC, it auto-installs all of the software necessary to enable access to secured content services, assuming a valid account. "Because of this, we believe our security solution will prove attractive to content distributors looking to venture into Open Internet Broadcasting (OIB) with first run or early release content," said Erickson. "Since user ID cannot be faked, and ultimate control over the security key is with the content provider, the last hole in the security dyke has been effectively plugged."
