NOVI, MI--(Marketwire - September 30, 2009) - Today's RV manufacturers are making great strides
in providing economical and efficient features for an even more affordable
RV vacation. The Fall Detroit Camper & RV Show features a special "green"
RV display, sponsored by General RV and Winnebago Industries. The display
will contain the 2009 Winnebago Adventurer hybrid concept vehicle and the
2010 Winnebago Via.
The Winnebago Adventurer hybrid is the RV industry's first hybrid
motorhome.
The hybrid RV rides on a Freightliner Custom Chassis' ecoFRED featuring
Eaton hybrid power components. This is a full hybrid system in that it
utilizes two independent power sources to power the RV. With the use of
regenerative braking, the hybrid electric motor uses electricity to create
torque, while also being able to reverse the process to use torque to
create electricity. By reversing its electric engine to become a generator,
electricity is fed back into the battery resulting in energy savings.
The most fuel efficient RV on the market, the Winnebago Via, will also be
on display at the show. The Via is the most fuel efficient class A
motorhome on the market, getting an estimated 15 miles per gallon. The new
Via offers superior handling, maneuverability and a minimal parking
footprint.
Consumers will find these efficient RV models and much more at the 20th
Annual Fall Detroit & RV Show. This year's show features special discounts
including folding campers from $4,999; trailers from $8,999; and motorhomes
from $49,999. Booths featuring parts and accessories, campground
information, on site RV financing, RV rentals and an outdoor display make
this the complete RV show experience. Enter to win the Ultimate MIS Race
Experience package from Michigan International Speedway, including tickets,
camping and VIP access (valued at nearly $3,000). The show is open weekdays
2-9 p.m., Saturday 11 a.m.-9 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m.-6 p.m.
The show is sponsored by the Michigan Association of Recreation Vehicles
and Campgrounds (MARVAC), a member organization representing all aspects of
the camping and RV industries. Consumers can call 517.349.8881 or visit
