Sierra Nevada Corporation Received $106.9M Against Competitive Award of Dismounted Counter-IED Jammer Contract

SPARKS, NV--(Marketwire - October 5, 2009) - Sierra Nevada Corporation's President, Eren
Ozmen is pleased to announce that SNC has been awarded two follow-up orders
to supply Joint Counter Radio-Controlled Improvised Explosive Device
Electronic Warfare (JCREW) 3.1 dismounted systems to meet the requirements
of US troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. Dismounted JCREW systems are
electronic jammers designed to prevent the initiation of radio-controlled
improvised explosive devices (RCIED).
Under the original contract awarded June 2009, Sierra Nevada is to provide
up to 2,500 JCREW 3.1 dismounted systems, support equipment and services,
and additional long-lead time material, for a total contract value of
$248.3 million.
SNC has received two contract modifications to increase funding by $106.9
million against the original competitive award. These modifications are to
supply parts and material for the JCREW dismounted systems. One contract
modification awarded Sept 24, 2009 and worth $80.6 million, is for the
supply of shipping containers and ancillary equipment and cables for 1,300
dismounted JCREW dismounted systems. Another contract modification awarded
Aug 10, 2009 and worth $26.3 million, is for long lead materials for 1,300
dismounted JCREW systems.
Work on both contract modifications will be performed in Sparks, Nev. (90
percent) and Rancho Cordova, CA (10 percent) and is expected to be finished
by December 2010. The Naval Sea Systems Command at the Washington Navy
Yard in D.C. manages the JCREW program for Office of the Secretary of
Defense's Joint Improvised Explosive Device Defeat Organization.
