TODAYMoms.com Makes Its Debut

New Destination for Moms Launches With Innovative Cross-Media Initiative

REDMOND, Wash. and NEW YORK, Oct. 12, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- TODAYshow.com unveiled a new destination for mothers everywhere with the launch of TODAYMoms.com, a place for conversation and connections. TODAYMoms, a part of TODAYshow.com, is designed to extend and enhance the wealth of parenting advice and camaraderie featured daily on TODAY, America's number one morning program. For decades, the show has provided moms with news and information to enrich their daily lives. With the launch of TODAYMoms.com, the voices of millions of mothers are now incorporated into the conversation -- on air, online and on mobile devices.

TODAYMoms.com offers parenting news, advice and tips from the show along with web-exclusive content. The community of moms already on TODAY -- both hosts and guests -- will now include the audience to discuss, share, and connect via easy-to-use interactive tools. Feedback and insight from moms will drive the discussion on TODAYMoms.com, and the ongoing on air and online content will reflect the community's valuable input.

The comprehensive cross-media initiative launched today includes a presence on air, online and on mobile devices as well as a special event for moms at NBC's 30 Rockefeller Plaza in New York. The innovative outreach plan includes a customized mobile destination and sponsorship in the iPhone parenting section. The multiplatform push will reach moms, in all the ways they stay connected, and invite them to engage with each other and share information anytime, anywhere.

"There are literally millions of moms engaging with TODAYshow.com each and every day. But not with each other," said Catherine Captain, general manager of TODAYshow.com. "We want to activate that existing universe with a vibrant place to converse and connect."

Moms are encouraged to join the community by creating a profile and participating in the blog. Mary Ann Zoellner and Alicia Ybarbo, co-authors of "TODAY's Moms: Essentials for Surviving Baby's First Year," are contributing editors to the blog. Moms can comment on the blog and also share photos and participate in interactive votes. The site features moms from TODAY, including Meredith Viera, Ann Curry, Natalie Morales and Amy Robach.

"Every day, millions of moms invite the TODAY anchors and correspondents into their homes. They feel like family," said Jim Bell, executive producer of TODAY. "Now, TODAY's own moms will share thoughts about their own families and parenting in today's world with moms on TODAYMoms.com."

"Listening to and engaging with moms helps us in our goal to know our customers and help them save money and live better," said Stephen Quinn, executive vice president and chief marketing officer for Walmart. "We are proud to be the exclusive sponsor of the TODAYMoms program to help create community that connects moms to one another and to us."
