FORT LAUDERDALE, FL--(Marketwire - October 20, 2009) - Upon disembarkment at Nassau, cruisers
will have the opportunity stay connected for free, thanks to a new booth
just opened by CruiseTube (www.cruisetube.com), a social networking site
launched in March for cruisers.
The CruiseTube Café is located at Bahamas Festival Place in Nassau, the
first space once leaving the ship, and will feature five computers with
Internet access, as well as a comfortable lounge and refreshments.
CruiseTube targets the more than 13 million annual cruisers, and is built
exclusively for the cruise community. CruiseTube allows cruisers to stay
in touch with their fellow passengers by sharing memories online. Cruisers
can also read reviews written by others, network with fellow passengers, as
well as cruise enthusiasts worldwide, sharing common interests and travel
plans.
"Given the high rates charged for Internet access on ships, we feel the
CruiseTube Cafe will be quite popular with passengers," said Peter Rooney,
CEO of CruiseTube. "Our location and features give us the ideal venue for
reaching cruisers directly and showcasing CruiseTube."
The 30 x 19 1/2 space is dedicated to both CruiseTube and to its parent
company, SeaMiles Limited (TSX-V : SEE ), North America's premier cruise
loyalty provider, where cruisers will also have the opportunity to apply
for the SeaMiles Visa Rewards Card: The ultimate cruise reward program. The
booth is staffed by Bahamians, contributing to the local job market.
CruiseTube was developed by a team of cruise industry experts combined with
social networking pioneers. On CruiseTube, users create profiles including
photos, videos, interests and status. In addition, cruisers can join
upcoming cruises and connect with fellow passengers giving them the ability
to meet in advance of the cruise, request dining mates and connect with
those who have similar interests. Users can also connect their CruiseTube
account with their Facebook account and invite their Facebook friends to
participate on CruiseTube through the site's "Facebook Connect" feature.
"Since launching CruiseTube six months ago, our membership continues to
increase daily, not surprising given the growing number of cruisers and the
ubiquitous popularity of social networking," said Mr. Rooney. "Our booth
will reach members and prospective members at a time in which they are
anxious to stay connected with their fellow cruisers."
Internet access will be free for 10 minutes for members of CruiseTube and
SeaMiles and for anyone who signs up that day.
