Botnia is undergoing significant changes due to the transfer of Uruguay operations, the growth in the share and amount of market pulp as well as the more efficient use of synergies in the entire Metsäliitto Group. Therefore, a formal proposal for the statutory negotiations related to the evaluation of organizational structure and employee tasks was given to the representatives on 2 November 2009. The statutory negotiations start on 9 November 2009. The planned measures are based on economical and operational reasons and affect 222 persons. The negotiations and possible measures include all white-collar employee tasks in Finland except employees in Kemi production organization and employees whose employment has been agreed to terminate related to the statutory negotiations in the Kaskinen shutdown process. The estimated reduction of employees is at the most 30 people. For additional information, please contact President and CEO Ilkka Hämälä
