NEWPORT BEACH, CA--(Marketwire - November 5, 2009) - LivingHomes® (www.livinghomes.net) today
completed the first residential installation of a new line of
moderately-priced prefabricated
homes designed for small, urban venues by award-winning architecture
firm KieranTimberlake. Assembled in just a matter of hours, the two-story
residence took shape on an empty lot in Newport Beach as a 250-ton crane
precision placed four,
pre-constructed modules onto the site. The LivingHome is poised to
become Orange County's first LEED-Platinum Certified Home, the nationally
accepted, third-party benchmark for the highest performing green buildings.
Dubbed the LHKT 1.5, this design is now being offered for sale nationwide
at a price of $275 per square foot installed, which makes it an extremely
attractive alternative to site building a comparable modern home. Like the entire line
of KieranTimberlake LivingHomes, it combines efficient factory-built
construction, lifestyle-driven architecture, and sustainability to offer homeowners,
builders and developers a high quality, low environmental impact,
architectural housing product that is time- and cost-efficient to build.
"The new KieranTimberlake LivingHomes are designed for
environmentally-conscious consumers who want a sustainable, architectural
home for a good price and/or a small, urban lot," said Steve Glenn,
LivingHomes CEO and founder.
The Newport Beach LivingHome is 2,200 square feet and includes 2 bedrooms,
2.5 baths and a bonus room. Numerous environmental features will help the
home qualify for LEED Platinum
Certification including recycled steel and timber-efficient engineered
lumber; recycled wood/bamboo siding; photovoltaic's (solar power) from
SunTech; low-flow Kohler bathroom fixtures and more.
National Availability and Pricing
LivingHomes has established a network of fabricators to service buyers in
each region of the U.S. The LivingHomes website features a robust,
interactive section that enables people to create their own virtual LivingHome, from selecting the finishes and systems that suit their personal style
to estimating the costs to fabricate and install the specific home they
have chosen.
The price for installed KieranTimberlake LivingHomes start at $225/square
foot (sf) and can go to $275/sf or more in quantities of one, depending on
options. This price does not include foundation costs, which can add
$25-50+/sf, permitting or land. These price points are extremely
competitive to those you would expect to pay for architectural homes
designed by top architects that include a comprehensive environmental
program.
