Immersive Media Enables World's First Live, Streaming, 360-Degree Video Broadcast With Canada's MuchMusic
Breakthrough IM LIVE Technology Gives Viewers "All-Access Pass" to See It All; Provides Broadcasters With Powerful New Tool to Connect With Online Audiences

PORTLAND, OR--(Marketwire - November 9, 2009) - Immersive Media Company (a wholly-owned
subsidiary of Immersive Media Corp., www.immersivemedia.com), the world
leader in 360-degree, interactive video, today announced the first live,
streaming video technology that lets website viewers interactively look
around to create their individual viewing experience as if they were there.
MuchMusic, Canada's leading multi-platform network for music videos, live
performances, TV shows and interviews, is using the new IM LIVE to stream
live video daily from its MuchOnDemand studio to fans at muchmusic.com to complement on-air
programming.
Viewers interested in experiencing IM LIVE can watch the daily,
interactive, online broadcasts at 5pm ET daily at the
MuchOnDemand site. The patented IM LIVE technology places online
audiences in the middle of a live event and gives them full control over
their viewing experience. With a simple click and drag of a computer mouse,
each viewer can independently control his or her own point of view, looking
sideways, up or down, or all around, zooming in or out of the action. This
"All-Access Pass" is powerful, making fans feel like they have been
transported to the center of the action.
"Immersive Media has enabled MuchMusic to give our fans exclusive access to
our live events and programming that makes them feel like they are actually
in our studio," said Ryan Trotman, director, Much MTV Digital. "The
360-degree interactive experience allows fans to take control of their
favorite shows like 'MuchOnDemand' and 'Live in the Lot' to give them their
own personal experience with their favorite artists and Much VJs. Being at
the leading edge of technology is enabling MuchMusic to interact with its
audience in powerful, new ways. Technologies like IM LIVE are allowing us
to bring in additional viewers to our live show and complement our on-air
programming."
MuchMusic has been a market leader in delivering innovative ways for its
fans to access events and developing new programming using the latest
technologies. Earlier this year, it debuted HD Smooth Streaming at the
MuchMusic Video Awards, a North American first. It is now combining IM LIVE
interactive video with social media to enable real-time, online
interaction, bringing fans closer together, and creating what it has billed
as the "ultimate live experience."
The IM LIVE solution, available now, is a turnkey system that enables
broadcasters, advertisers and interactive marketers to deliver live,
interactive, 360-degree video. It is comprised of Immersive Media's
Dodeca® 2360 Camera and a streaming encoding server that delivers
real-time video to users on the web. IM LIVE is easy to deploy and
integrate into any broadcast video production framework.
IM LIVE provides important benefits to both broadcasters and marketers.
Because it enables viewers to control the viewing experience and feel what
it's like to be at a live event, IM LIVE translates into longer viewing
times and a richer, more enjoyable viewing experience. This "stickiness"
offers unique opportunities for sponsors and advertisers to capture the
viewers' attention for longer periods of time.
"IM LIVE is a breakthrough technology that brings the online audience into
a live event just as if they were in the studio or concert hall," said
Karen Tanaka, COO of Immersive Media. "We have been thrilled to work with
MuchMusic to enable them to set a new benchmark for the 'ultimate' live
experience."
