Planet Resource Recovery, Inc. Successfully Proves New Technology to Remediate Cadmium Laced Water
| Source: Planet Resource Recovery, Inc.
HOUSTON, TX--(Marketwire - November 23, 2009) - Planet Resource Recovery, Inc. (PLANET)
(PINKSHEETS : PRRY ), developer, manufacturer and marketer of PetroLuxus™
and other "Green" technologies for the remediation and recovery of the
planet's resources, is pleased to announce the successful remediation of
cadmium laced water with its new technology. Utilizing newly developed
proprietary compounds and process, the successful proof of concept opens a
new environmental remediation market for the company. The company
anticipates that this new technology may additionally be used to remediate
waters contaminated with mercury, lead and zinc.
Cadmium is an extremely toxic metal to humans. Toxicity of cadmium has been
linked to a number of health conditions such as heart disease, cancer and
diabetes. Cadmium is considered more toxic than lead and mercury. Cadmium
concentrates in the kidneys, liver and various other organs. Human exposure
to cadmium toxicity is increasing globally due to a growing number of
cadmium uses. Cadmium is commonly used in coatings of iron, steel and
copper. It is used in copper alloys, fungicides, stabilizers in rubber and
plastics and many other products. The manufacturers of these products often
end up polluting water.
PLANET's Director of Technology, Dr. Hal Potts, and his staff designed and
developed a new proprietary solution and an innovative process to
precipitate the targeted metal. The first round of testing targeted
cadmium. EPA standards for acceptable count of cadmium in water is 5 parts
per billion. This new technology has been designed to drop the Cadmium
count to and below 5 parts per billion. The company anticipates filing for
protection of Intellectual Property rights for the newly designed reactor
vessels and process controls.
Further testing will be conducted in the near future on other common toxic
metals of mercury, lead and zinc.
