Avaya's Proposed Acquisition of Nortel Enterprise Solutions Receives Investment Canada Act Approval

BASKING RIDGE, NJ--(Marketwire - December 4, 2009) - Avaya today announced that the Canadian
Minister of Industry has approved the company's acquisition of Nortel
Enterprise Solutions under the Investment Canada Act.

officials at Industry Canada, the Federal Government and the Ontario

The company has now passed regulatory reviews in the United States, Canada
and the European Union, and expects to close the transaction this month.
