Borders Group Inc. (NYSE:BGP), through its subsidiaries, Borders Inc., Walden Book Company Inc., and others operates book, music and movie superstores and mall-based bookstores. At October 31, 2009, BGP operated 516 superstores under the Borders name, including 513 in the United States and three in Puerto Rico, and also operated 361 mall-based and other bookstores, including stores operated under the Waldenbooks, Borders Express and Borders Outlet names, as well as Borders-branded airport stores. In addition, the company owns and operates United Kingdom-based Paperchase Products Limited, a designer and retailer of stationery, cards and gifts. As of October 31, 2009, Paperchase operated 118 stores, primarily in the United Kingdom, and Paperchase shops have been added to 333 Borders superstores.
