MARLBOROUGH, MA--(Marketwire - January 12, 2010) - BrainTrack, a widely referenced
higher-education resource, today announced the Fall 2009 winners for its BrainTrack Computer Science Degree Scholarship
(http://www.braintrack.com/colleges-by-career/computer-programmers#scholarship), a biannual scholarship for computer science
degree students that is designed to help prospective students. The winners
are Matthew Alexander Poulos of North Carolina State University in Raleigh,
NC, who received the $1,000 first-place award, and Tara Srihari of
Villanova University in Villanova, PA, who received a $500 second-place
award.
"Our Computer Science Degree Scholarship program results in essays that we
are publishing as student stories," said David Siegel, Vice President of
Operations with BrainTrack's publisher, Futuremeld, LLC. "The collection
of these stories gives those considering computer science degrees and
careers the valuable experiences of current students to draw upon. The
winners were based on the creativity and usefulness of their essays."
"A goal for me is to graduate debt free. This scholarship will help in
achieving this goal," said BrainTrack Computer Science Degree Scholarship
winner Matthew Alexander Poulos, who plans to graduate in 2012 with a
Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science from North Carolina State
University. His winning essay encouraged future students to explore all the
technologies available before choosing a specific path, and to develop not
just technical but interpersonal skills for success.
BrainTrack Computer Science Scholarship runner up Tara Srihari has
completed three years towards her Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer
Science from Villanova University. In her essay, she recommended that
future computer science students consider joining professional associations
such as the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), and look into
research and teaching positions available through the major's department.
A summary of useful tips offered by entrants, as well as the winning essay
entries, are published in BrainTrack's Computer Science Student Stories section at:
