MuleSoft Tcat Server Supports Newly Released Apache Tomcat 6.0.24
Latest Version of Apache Tomcat Available Today With Seamless Tcat Server Integration
| Source: MuleSoft
SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - January 21, 2010) - MuleSoft, the Web Middleware Company,
today announced that the latest release of its enterprise-class web
application server, Tcat Server 6 R2, has been exhaustively
tested to support the newest version of Apache
Tomcat 6.0.24, also announced today. Tcat Server gives Tomcat users
enterprise-class functionality, including server group management, Tomcat
configuration management, application provisioning, and Tomcat
monitoring and performance diagnostics.
"MuleSoft continues to show its commitment to the Tomcat community by
supporting the latest and most stable Tomcat releases as they become
available," said Jason Brittain, MuleSoft architect and co-author of
Tomcat: the Definitive Guide. "Tomcat 6.0.24 gives users some important
improvements and bug fixes, including aggressive webapp and JDK memory leak
handing, an HTTPS vulnerability fix, major updates and bug fixes to
Tomcat's database connection pooling code, and greatly improved support for
JMX and jconsole. In addition to those, 6.0.24 includes many thread safety,
clustering, and Windows installer fixes, making it a great release."
Tcat is based 100% on the Apache Tomcat binary, with zero changes to the
core code. The server's enterprise-class functionality allows IT teams to
migrate from heavyweight legacy platforms -- such as Oracle WebLogic or IBM
WebSphere -- to the lightweight open source option, Tomcat. Users can also quickly and seamlessly deploy Tcat
Server in the cloud using the Amazon
EC2 plug-in. The plug-in enables customers to quickly configure,
monitor and diagnose Tomcat using a web browser from any remote location.
"Tcat Server is built on the original and unmodified Apache release binary
distribution of Tomcat. This means existing users of Tcat Server can
immediately upgrade to the newest version of Tomcat without having to wait
for the vendor to release an upgrade," said Sateesh Narahari, director of
product management at MuleSoft. "This is significantly different from other
enterprise Tomcat products such as tc Server."
Tcat Server 6 R2 is free to use in development and pre-production
environments. Production subscriptions and support for Apache Tomcat starts
at $595 per CPU per year. For more information or to download, please visit
