ORANGE, Calif., Jan. 25, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Canyon Acres Children and Family Services, a Southern California charity organization committed to providing homes, care, treatment and supportive services for abused, neglected and emotionally troubled children and their families, today announced its 2009 holiday campaign netted more than $70,000 in gifts and donations.
Dubbed ‘Be An Angel for Our Kids,' Canyon Acres' holiday campaign began accepting cash donations at the end of October 2009. The annual toy drive commenced on December 1st, followed by four special events for children and their families: a Santa visit for the After School Program, hosted by board member Harry Winters and Jacqueline Palacios at the Children's Treatment Center at the Ranch; an Angels Baseball Holiday Party at Angel's Stadium with story time, dinner and presents; invitations for children and families to the Newport Harbor Boat Parade, sponsored by Patrick Dirk and TROY Group, Inc.; and the 24th Annual Athletes and Entertainers for Kids/911 for Kids Christmas celebration.
"'Be An Angel for Our Kids' was a highlight in a very important year of care, service and fundraising for the children and families Canyon Acres serves," said Tim Bauer, Vice President of Canyon Acres. "The holidays can be an especially difficult time of year for children and families lacking safety, comfort and hope for the future. We are extremely grateful to all of the generous donors who have brought us one step closer to helping families break cycles of abuse and neglect in the home."
