LXI Consortium Elects Board and Officers for FY2010

NIWOT, CO--(Marketwire - February 9, 2010) - The LXI Consortium recently held its annual elections for the Board of Directors, officers and committee chairs.

Von Campbell of Agilent Technologies will continue to serve as the Consortium's president. He holds a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Purdue University (West Lafayette, Indiana) and a master's in electrical engineering from Stanford University (Stanford, California). Campbell oversees Agilent's involvement in multiple industry consortia, including the LXI Consortium.

"We anticipate the number of test systems that incorporate the power of Ethernet and the Web with the standardization and extended functionality of LXI-compliant instruments to expand significantly in 2010," said Campbell.

The Board of Directors will consist of three appointed directors from the Strategic Members and two elected directors from the Participating Members:

-- Von Campbell, Agilent Technologies

-- Jochen Wolle, Rohde & Schwarz

-- Bob Stasonis, Pickering Interfaces

-- Rob Purser, The MathWorks

-- David Ashley Poole, Aeroflex

Other officers elected by the Board include:

-- Technical Committee Chair: David Owen, Pickering Interfaces

-- Conformance Committee Chair: Jochen Wolle, Rohde & Schwarz

-- Marketing Committee Co-Chairs: Elizabeth Persico, Agilent Technologies and Bob Stasonis, Pickering Interfaces

-- Executive Director: Bob Helsel, Bode Enterprises, LLC

The new officers are already involved in planning for the Consortium's next PlugFest event, scheduled for February 8-10, 2010, in Dallas, Texas. The PlugFest offers members an opportunity to network with other test professionals as well as to have their instruments tested for compliance with the LXI Standard.

Since the beginning of 2009, the LXI Consortium has grown steadily, both in terms of membership and in the number of newly compliant products available:

-- New members of the Consortium include NPP MERA from the Russian Federation; AAI Corporation, Hunt Valley, MD, USA; Acery Technologies Ltd. and Automatic Test & Control Institute, both from the People's Republic of China; Good Will Instrument Co, Ltd., Taiwan; Giga-tronics, San Ramon, CA, USA; Chroma ATE, Inc., Taiwan; and Harbin Institute of Technology, China, which became the first educational institution to join the Consortium's newly established University membership category. The worldwide locations of these new members reflect the increasingly global reach for LXI instruments.

-- With a total of 1288 test and measurement products now certified as conformant with the LXI Standard, every major product category needed to build a high performance test system is now covered, with no holes or gaps in instrument capability. This represents a 94 percent growth rate in conformant LXI instruments from the end of 2008.

About LXI and the LXI Consortium

Introduced in 2005, the LXI Standard has been rapidly implemented by numerous hardware and software companies, as well as systems integrators. These organizations, which represent a who's who of the test-and-measurement industry, recognize that not only is LXI the natural evolution of the test and measurement instrument interface but that it also makes it easier for test system designers and integrators to create faster, more efficient systems. To date, over 1300 products have been certified as being compliant with the LXI Standard and annual sales of LXI-equipped test and measurement equipment now exceed $200 million (US).

The LXI Standard creates new capabilities that optimize test throughput, overall system performance, and cost efficiency in a way that allows engineers to build powerful, web-enabled test systems in less time. The LXI Consortium, a not-for-profit corporation comprised of leading test and measurement companies, manages the Standard. The group's goals are to develop, support, and promote the LXI Standard. LXI's flexible packaging, high-speed I/O, and standardized use of LAN connectivity address a broad range of commercial, industrial, aerospace, and military applications.
