In 2009 the Mortgage and Land Bank of Latvia pursued active lending within the framework of state aid programmes and as a result of the global economic situation accumulated provisions for doubtful loans in the amount of 74.2 million lats. Due to the accumulated provisions for doubtful loans the Mortgage Bank closed year 2009 with losses amounting to 54.1 million lats. Profit of the bank before accumulation of the provisions was 19.2 million lats. In 2009 the gross assets of the Bank increased by 4.4 million lats reaching 967 million lats. The gross loan portfolio of the Bank decreased by 24.1 million lats amounting to 707.5 million lats. In 2009 the deposits grew by 22.3 million lats or 8%, their total volume reaching 326.8 million lats. The equity capital of the Bank is 121.32 million lats, but the reserve capital - 2.063 million lats. The retained earnings for the previous years constituted 12 million lats. The liquidity ratio of the Bank is 82.2%, whereas the capital adequacy ratio was 12.8% as at 31 December 2009.
