The EX Series Ethernet Switches advance the economics of networking by enabling a high-performance network infrastructure based on three key tenets -- operational simplicity, carrier-class reliability and integrated security -- that deliver ubiquitous access, reduce network downtime and enhance overall security to shared assets across the extended enterprise. "By broadening our portfolio to include the new EX2200 switches, we are able to address the entry-level Ethernet switch market with a product that can significantly trim down the cost for customers to deliver consistent IT network services regardless of customer size or location," said David Yen, executive vice president and general manager, Fabric and Switching Technologies at Juniper Networks. "We offer a very compelling value proposition for customers looking for an entry-level, standalone solution but demand uninterrupted, uncompromised delivery of the applications that drive business processes." Junos Operating System Reduces Complexity and Lowers TCO
The EX2200 runs the same Junos OS used by other EX Series Ethernet Switches, as well as other Juniper Networks routers and SRX Series Services Gateways. By utilizing a single source operating system, Juniper delivers a consistent implementation and operation of control-plane features across products, ensuring unmatched carrier-class reliability and operational simplicity. Four platform configurations are available offering 24 and 48 10/100/1000BASE-T ports, both with and without Power over Ethernet (PoE). The 24- and 48-port PoE EX2200 switches support 802.3af standards-based PoE for powering networked devices such as telephones, video cameras and wireless LAN (WLAN) access points in converged networks. The EX2200 PoE switches are also capable of supporting standards-based 802.3at PoE+ for powering networked devices like multiple radio IEEE 802.11n wireless access points and video phones that may require more than the 15.4 watts available with IEEE 802.3af. List price for base configuration starts at US$1,995. About Juniper Networks
