MT. LAUREL, N.J., March 1, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- TelVue Corporation (OTCBB:TEVE), the innovation leader in broadcast technology for community television broadcasters, today announced that Brooklyn, NYC's BCAT TV Network utilized the company's PEG.TV™ Internet video service to stream their State of the Borough for Brooklyn, New York live event for the BCAT TV Network. Held at the YMCA Sports Complex at the Park Slope Armory in Brooklyn, the February 3, 2010 Brooklyn State of the Borough was attended by 1,600 people and Cablecast to over 550,000 Brooklyn households, along with the station's online community. While the BCAT TV Network already uses a self-hosted streaming video solution for local community access programming, BCAT required significantly increased bandwidth capacity to live stream the Brooklyn State of the Borough event.
"When we needed to increase our streaming capability to handle our live production of the Brooklyn Borough President's State of the Borough event, TelVue's PEG.TV™ became our perfect partner, " said Greg Sutton, Director of Community Media Programs at BRIC Arts | Media | Bklyn and Executive Director, BCAT TV Network. "They worked with us, on short notice, to expand our capabilities and walk us through the process. From the moment I reached out to them for assistance to the moment the live event ended they were there with advice, guidance and incredible expertise. The stream looked great, was stable and served our very large online community of viewers. TelVue made it all happen smoothly and professionally."
The PEG.TV™ web user interface enabled BCAT community media staff to easily customize the media player with their own logo, background color palette and splash screen, and embed it directly into their website. BCAT's community media marketing staff were also able to create banner ads promoting the station's education programs, television network and in-house professionally produced programming. These banner ads rotated on the BCAT TV Network PEG.TV™ player and generated additional information and click throughs for interested viewers.
"We are pleased we could help our customer BCAT expand their audience on the Internet for their live event," said Jesse Lerman, TelVue President and CEO. "PEG.TV™ provides local broadcasters the ability to realize the same reliability and scale they are used to with their television channels. Video consumers today expect an instant experience, and will be turned off if they can't access a live event or video program due to bandwidth or server constraints. PEG.TV™ eliminates these issues and provides a seamless web site viewing experience for both on-demand and live local programming."
