Pimi Agro Reports Successful Preliminary Trial Results for SpuDefender(TM) as Sprout Suppressor for Potatoes

BEVERLY HILLS, CA--(Marketwire - May 13, 2010) -  Pimi Agro CleanTech, Inc. (OTCBB: PIMZ), a Company that develops and markets environmentally friendly alternative solutions for treating pre- and post-harvest of fruits and vegetables, announced today preliminary results of a trial conducted on fresh potatoes in conjunction with the University of Wisconsin, which began in October 2009.

In the United States, the chemical Chloropropharm (CIPC) is commonly used to suppress sprout growth in potatoes. Based on preliminary results through May 3rd, 2010, Pimi Agro's SpuDefender™ reported sprouting suppressing capabilities on American varieties of stored potatoes at the same level as potatoes using CIPC.

Preliminary results of the trial suggest that SpuDefender™ represents an effective substitute for CIPC. The CIPC process, which takes place during packaging and prior to shipment, can leave a high degree of residue of CIPC on potatoes. Specifically, the report shows that potatoes that were treated with Pimi Agro's SpuDefender™, both during storage and while on the washing line, had a five week shelf life.

Pimi Agro has presented these results to supermarket chains in the United States and is discussing commercialization following the Company's EPA registration, which is anticipated by the end of the year.

Youval Saly, CEO, said, "We are extremely pleased with these initial results. We are seeing important and promising indications that our solution can be applied to different varieties of American potatoes. Based on the final results of these trials, we can make strategic decisions about moving into the development and marketing phase for next season."
