KISSIMMEE, FL--(Marketwire - June 7, 2010) - Information Builders, an independent leader in business intelligence (BI) solutions, today announced the winners of the annual Awards of Distinction for original and innovative use of BI and integration technology. Information Builders is honoring the winners at its 2010 Summit User Conference, which highlights successful customer implementations along with contributions from leading industry analysts and pundits. Featuring a variety of customer-led sessions addressing relevant business issues, this year's Information Builders Summit also showcases new products and features throughout the event.
The honored customers are deploying BI and integration solutions for various business issues -- from deploying humanitarian aid efforts in Haiti to predicting the credit crisis. The companies that are receiving awards exemplify the Summit theme of expanding the scope of business intelligence, as these organizations are continually finding innovative applications for BI and integration technologies.
"The customers honored at this year's Summit have raised the innovation bar with Information Builders software," said Information Builders Founder and CEO Gerald Cohen. "By identifying unique and creative uses for business intelligence and integration technologies, these customers are experiencing higher-than-ever ROI, and expanding the reach of business intelligence tools to an entirely new user base."
The following Information Builders customers are being recognized with Awards of Distinction:
Highest ROI (first winner) -- International Car Operators (ICO). A world-leading stevedoring company that handles roll-on/roll-off cargo operations, ICO is a leader in international vehicle transport, processing about 1.6 million vehicles each year with a fleet of more than 1,000 ships. To offer a system that would facilitate the efficient processing and sharing of information between entering ships, material-handling and logistic service providers, and customers, ICO has developed its own computer platform that has been strengthened with the addition of WebFOCUS and iWay Software from Information Builders. As a result of the combined increased efficiencies of iWay and WebFOCUS, ICO will see a projected, cumulative three-year reduction of $4.27 million in operational costs. iWay has also drastically reduced the need for manual input into the system -- cutting down the time to process each car by four minutes, leading to a reduction of 100,000 hours of employee time by the third year.
Highest ROI (second winner) -- Plus Relocation Services, Inc. (PLUS). PLUS helps corporations fulfill their talent management strategy through their mobility services within the Americas and across the globe. Their passion to "deliver delight" in every encounter with customers, partners and employees frames their attitudes and behaviors, and fosters a strong culture of collaboration, innovation and loyalty. PLUS leveraged WebFOCUS with the goal of building a business intelligence platform that would make mobility data easily accessible to its clients -- when they need it, how they need it. Customers can access vital program information through self-service dashboards and reports. This has reduced the amount of time their counselors spend pulling reports -- allowing them to focus on the client and the employee. WebFOCUS also helped Plus Relocation improve internal productivity and reduce costs. As a result of their investment, PLUS will see a cumulative net benefit of $3,423,600 over three years.
Most Innovative -- Dealer Services. After just three years in business, DSC saw the automotive industry take one of the sharpest downturns in automotive history. As consumer finance companies tightened their underwriting, many Americans found it extremely difficult to get an auto loan. Invariably, this left many franchise and Independent dealers with excess and aging inventory, not to mention lost profits. It was a hard hit on the automotive sector. However, thanks, in part, to the WebFOCUS predictive BI system, RStat, DSC saw the automotive downturn coming well in advance, giving managers time to set financial reserves, adjust lending standards, and even evaluate dealers' inventories -- minimizing risk both to itself and its customers. Dealer Services continues to use RStat in innovative ways, making its staff more efficient and effective in the decision-making process.
Most Humanitarian -- US Air Force Air Mobility Command. From moving tanks to supporting Haiti relief efforts, the United States Air Mobility Command (AMC) is continually called upon to support military contingencies and humanitarian operations around the world. AMC needed to combine data from multiple disparate systems to develop a common view of Mobility Air Force operations and logistics resources, accessible from a standard Web browser. Using Information Builders, the AMC built a system that provides a centralized, real-time view of the status of aircraft and supplies, improving planning and decision-making while reducing costs. Forty thousand to fifty thousand personnel currently use the reporting capabilities of the Information Builders BI system to manage between 400 to 500 humanitarian missions per day, including its recent humanitarian aid efforts to Haiti.
iWay Award for Fastest ROI -- Sabre Airline Solutions. In early 2010, the nearly $3 billion travel company deployed Information Builders iWay Software's Data Quality Center to evaluate, monitor, and manage data quality in its Airport Data Intelligence database. As part of its Airport Data Intelligence service, Sabre tracks the capacity of every plane, airline, and fleet in the world, acquiring millions of rows of passenger information every month and loading it into its proprietary database. iWay Software's DQC allows Sabre to easily solve discrepancies in the system by streamlining its databases, sorting its information effectively and maintaining the quality of its data. As a result, more than 100 airports worldwide are making million dollar decisions based on Sabre data with complete confidence.
