SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - July 13, 2010) - MuleSoft, the Web Middleware Company, today announced the availability of Tcat Server 6 R3, the latest release of its enterprise-class web application server based on Apache Tomcat. This version adds support for managing the newly released Tomcat 7 beta and is tightly integrated with Windows services, allowing Windows administrators to run and manage Tomcat without being logged into the server. Other new features and capabilities include import and export of third party server profiles, streamlined user interaction, simplified diagnostics data, and faster and easier deployment of Tomcat applications.
Tcat Server is a fully-supported enterprise Apache Tomcat web application server with critical features for production deployment, such as server group management, configuration management, application deployment, and performance diagnostics. Based 100% on the Apache Tomcat binaries, with zero changes to the core code, Tcat Server allows IT teams to migrate from legacy platforms such as Oracle WebLogic and IBM WebSphere to the lightweight and open source Tomcat.
"We have had tremendous positive feedback from our customers since the introduction of Tcat Server. With well-recognized organizations such as Equifax and the State of Alaska using Tcat Server, it is quickly becoming the clear leader among Apache Tomcat app servers," said Sateesh Narahari, director of product management at Mulesoft. "Tcat Server continues to widen that lead with built-in compatibility for the newest major version of Tomcat, along with a number of other upgrades that make Tcat easier to use, with an even cleaner look and feel."
New features available in Tcat Server 6 R3 include:
- Full support for Apache Tomcat 7 beta - Allows users to manage Tomcat 7 instances from the Tcat Server console. Tcat Server R3 is currently the only web application server to support the latest three major versions of Tomcat.
- Import/Export of server profiles - Makes it easy to share a consistent set of configurations (e.g., for a specific application) across multiple environments and store a 'Gold' configuration profile for record keeping.
- Tight integration with Windows services - Allows Windows administrators to make Tcat Server part of their operation process by running and managing Tomcat without logging into the server.
- Simplified user interaction - Includes a more intuitive user interface, simplified presentation of diagnostics data and improved navigation.
- Improved deployment model - Greatly reduces the number of steps involved in deployment, allowing users to more easily deploy, undeploy, and redeploy web applications to servers and groups.
