RTB Played to Sold-Out Crowd in 2009

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - August 9, 2010) -

"(Christian) McLeer's 'Adrift' and 'Fire' opened and closed the program... effectively showing what is possible in the short-form, both seriously and comically." -- Soundtime.worldpress (2009)

Remarkable Theater Brigade, a not-for-profit company -- which was founded in 2002 by Christian McLeer, Monica Harte and Dan Jesselsohn -- has just announced its 9th Season, which will once again be presented at NYC's prestigious Weill Hall at Carnegie Hall on October 1, 2010 with Opera Shorts. RTB's 2009 production of Opera Shorts played to a sold-out crowd at the same venue.

A set of 10-minute operas, this year's production of Opera Shorts features composers John Corigliano (who wrote the soundtrack to "Red Violin"); Mark Adamo (who wrote "Little Women"); Composer, Tania Leon, who will present the American premiere of one of her original works; and of course, Christian McLeer, who will play, conduct and direct two 10-minute operas -- "Kindergarten" and "Ruby" -- serving as bookends for the evening's ten operas. Christian McLeer also serves as Remarkable Theater Brigade's Artistic Director.

This year's singers include Baritone Chris Trakas and Tenor Will Ferguson, who both performed in Opera Shorts in 2009; Kyo Won Han (Baritone), Amanda Crider (Lyric Mezzo), Jessie Hinkle (dramatic Mezzo), Laura Pedersen, and Soprano Monica Harte, RTB's General Director.

Remarkable Theater Brigade also announced that Maestro Steven Crawford and Director Joachim Schamberger are returning for this year's production.

Based in New York City, Remarkable Theater Brigade has a diverse production history -- since its inception, RTB has created and produced new musical productions including orchestral works, operas, ballets, musicals and electro-acoustic works. Dedicated to creating and presenting new works for theatrical performances in New York City, RTB also takes children's versions of its productions to special-needs and at-risk children for free. Over the past eight years, RTB has performed for more than 50,000 children in over 50 locations.
