SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - August 31, 2010) - The Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA), today announced that Geoffrey Moore, best-selling author, will be included in the line-up of keynote speakers for the 7th annual Storage Developer Conference (SDC) 2010, and will simultaneously present the opening keynote address on September 23rd to the SNIA Cloud Burst Summit attendees.
Held on September 20-23, 2010 in Santa Clara, CA, SDC 2010 is expected to attract hundreds of storage developers to share best practices and learn about leading storage development matters such as advances in hardware, cloud storage, data deduplication, FCoE, file systems, green technologies, virtualization, security, solid state storage, storage management, storage testing, and CIFS/SMB/SMB2.
Industry association IDEMA is a Platinum level sponsor of SDC and will present on its Advanced Format (4K) technology initiative.
SNIA Cloud Burst Summit
As the only industry event focused on storage in the Cloud, the SNIA Cloud Burst Summit will be co-located with SDC on September 23rd. The event is focused on bringing together end users, cloud providers and storage vendors for a unique experience including demos, a showcase and in depth sessions on this part of the overall cloud industry. The SNIA Cloud Burst Summit will bring together IT storage professionals that are looking to cloud storage as a solution for their IT environments. The day's agenda will include presentations from cloud industry luminaries, the latest cloud development panel discussions, a deeper dive on cloud backup, and a cocktail networking opportunity in the evening.
CIFS/SMB/SMB2 Plugfest
In addition, Microsoft will again underwrite the 5-day CIFS/SMB/SMB2 Plugfest which is co-located with SDC 2010. The CIFS/SMB/SMB2 Plugfest will start on Sunday, September 19th, and will allow vendors to bring their implementations of CIFS/SMB/SMB2 to test, identify, and fix bugs in a collaborative setting with the goal of providing a forum in which companies can develop interoperable products. Last year's Plugfest participants included Apple, Bluecoat, Cisco Systems, Exar, Intel, Isilon Systems, Likewise, Microsoft, NetApp, Nexenta, Quantel, Sun Microsystems, SwiftTest, Symas, ubiqx Consulting, Visuality Systems, WhipTail Technologies and the Samba Team. This year, the Plugfest will add new companies to their participant list that include Centrify, Citrix, Codenomicon, EMC, IBM, Ipanema Technologies, Konica Minolta, Novell, Oracle, Redhat, and Scale Computing.
