TORONTO--(Marketwire - September 14, 2010) - Sigma Systems, an industry leader in Advanced IP Service Fulfillment solutions, and Columbus Communications announced today that the core next-generation OSS infrastructure for triple-play services for Columbus Communications will be Sigma Systems' Service Management Platform. The Service Management Platform will be used for service fulfillment of video, VoIP and high-speed Internet services in Columbus Communications' operations in Trinidad & Tobago, Jamaica, Grenada, and Curaçao.
Columbus Communications provides various broadband-enabled services such as digital cable television, high-speed Internet access and IP telephony services under the unified brand name "Flow" to its retail and commercial customers in Trinidad & Tobago, Jamaica, Grenada and Curaçao.
Columbus Communications is currently undertaking simultaneous BSS and OSS transformation projects to eliminate silos and increase operational efficiencies.
For its service transformation, Columbus Communications has upgraded its OSS to the Service Management Platform and full suite of service fulfillment solutions from Sigma Systems to validate orders, conduct order management and provision and activate its integrated services, including TV, VoIP, and broadband triple-play bundles. Columbus Communications will also use Sigma Systems' Video Service Package for digital TV and Video On Demand, and its Device Provisioning Manager to auto-configure and provision residential end-user devices, including SIP devices.
"A long-term partner for Columbus, Sigma Systems has proven its expertise in service transformation," said Brendan Paddick, CEO of Columbus Communications. "Our goal is to deliver the most advanced services available to our customers, using the latest technology available. The business and service transformation projects allow us to continuously roll out new offerings, such as SIP and DOCSIS 3.0 services."
Sigma Systems' Service Management Platform is a service-oriented architecture (SOA) based fulfillment solution that is preferred by next-generation operators for service transformation. The Service Management Platform enables operators to use a single OSS platform to support all service offerings, which simplifies the delivery of integrated, bundled and multimedia services over any access technology.
"Columbus Communications is a next-generation operator that is looking to set the pace for IP services in the Caribbean and Latin America region," said Tim Spencer, president and COO of Sigma Systems. "We will apply our leadership in service transformation to Columbus Communications' various operations to improve their operational efficiencies, their ability to create profitable bundles and drive new revenues."
