Columbus IT to take on 50 retail experts
Massive global demand for IT-based business systems for the retail sector has
prompted Columbus IT to seek retail experts at home and abroad. The many new
members of staff are required to help retail companies around the world
implement Columbus IT's Microsoft based retail system, Dynamics AX for Retail,
designed to significantly strengthen retail companies' competitiveness.
Due to the economic crisis Columbus IT has seen a marked increase in demand for
end-to-end retail systems:
“Followed by the property and finance sectors the retail sector has suffered a
severe blow by the economic crisis. Partly because consumption fell from one day
to another, and partly because customers became far more critical and demanding
than shops had been used to during the pre-crisis booming years. Companies
learned the hard way that they did not have the systems to steer them through
the crisis and enable them to serve their customers. That is part of the reason
why we are now witnessing a massive demand from the retail sector for new IT
systems to manage the new market challenges,” says Henrik P. Salicath, Corporate
SVP of Sales at Columbus IT.
Columbus IT expects that at least 50 new retail experts will join in Denmark and
abroad - and the process is already under way. The new specialists need not
necessarily be IT experts, nor is it a requirement that they are already
familiar with Columbus IT's Microsoft-based retail solution. The crux of the
matter is their deep industry insight and business development experience.
Lack of IT experience no hindrance
“We are going after the very best people in the retail sector. The ones with
professional experience and the proper know-how. This is not a matter of finding
IT experts - we already have them. The challenge here is to bring in the
requisite expertise from outside the tech sector. In addition to training them
in our Microsoft-based retail solutions, they will learn about our internal
processes and operating procedures through our global training programme,” says
Henrik P. Salicath, Corporate SVP of Sales at Columbus IT.
Columbus IT's retail system helps companies manage their entire business, from
stock control, purchasing and logistics to finance management, web integration,
customer relations and payment systems.
“Our strategy in the retail sector has been developed in collaboration with
Microsoft. Together, we have a solution which, in a very short span of time, is
able to help thousands of retail companies strengthen their competitiveness.
This marks a significant boost for retailers and one that will resound
throughout the sector. Our own retail consultants are enthusiastic about it -
and it will prove that we are an attractive partner. With the development of our
new core competencies within retail, we will be able to service large and medium
sized retail customers worldwide at an entirely new level,” says Henrik P.
Salicath, Corporate SVP of Sales at Columbus IT.
Global task force
Moreover Columbus IT has created a global SWAT-team consisting of extraordinary
and competent specialists - hand-picked within the organization from 16
different countries. The team will function across projects and national borders
and will be available with its expertise to the organization for new wins and
larger global projects. With 50 new retail experts and a supreme-team Columbus
IT is ready to conquer the global market with industry solutions and business
systems for the retail sector.
