ST. HELENA, CA--(Marketwire - November 16, 2010) - Louis M. Martini® Winery was recently named one of the "2010 WINERIES OF THE YEAR" by Wine & Spirits Magazine. This award honors 100 wineries that delivered the best overall performance in Wine & Spirits' tastings conducted during the past year. This is the second consecutive year that Louis M. Martini Winery has been recognized with this achievement.
"It is such a wonderful honor and inspiration to be included among these world-class wineries by such a well-respected publication," said Michael Martini, third generation winemaker for Louis M. Martini. "We are very excited to build on our winemaking history and continue to make the best wines possible in one of the finest wine regions in the world."
Founded by Louis M. Martini in 1933, the Martini Winery has been a landmark in the Napa Valley for decades. Now, with third generation winemaker Michael Martini at the helm, the winery continues to craft award-winning wines from Napa Valley's flagship grape, Cabernet Sauvignon.
Wine & Spirits held an annual "Top 100" wine tasting event in San Francisco on Oct. 13, where the wineries and winemakers were invited to pour their wines. The "Wineries of the Year" are profiled in the November 2010 Buying Guide issue of Wine & Spirits, on sale now.
About Louis M. Martini
For more than 75 years, the Louis M. Martini Winery has crafted award-winning wines from the flagship grape of Napa Valley: Cabernet Sauvignon. With the simple premise that the best grapes make the best wines, Founder Louis M. Martini set out to acquire the finest terroir in what is now one of the world's most renowned wine producing regions. In 1977, Michael Martini, third generation family winemaker, took the helm. Merging art and science in the winery in 2003, he introduced Cellar 254 an "artist's studio" to experiment with small production, artisan red wines. Today, the winery continues the tradition in which it was established: pursuing the best Cabernet Sauvignon that the region can offer. The Louis M. Martini Winery and tasting room are located on Highway 29 in St. Helena, Calif. For more information, please visit www.louismartini.com.
