CHICAGO, IL--(Marketwire - December 4, 2010) - Open enrollment ends December 31, 2010 which gives seniors and Medicare beneficiaries plenty of time to examine Medicare insurance plans. But experts at GoMedicare.com advise seniors not to put it off until the last minute.
At GoMedicare.com, consumers can compare many different Medicare coverage options including Medicare Advantage, Medicare Supplement and Medicare Part D with a licensed health insurance and Medicare agent.
"Open enrollment is great opportunity for Medicare beneficiaries. It's a time when consumers can upgrade or change their coverage to make sure their health needs are met for 2011," said Mark Colwell, Consumer Analyst at GoMedicare.com. "Through our service here at GoMedicare.com, we can connect you with a licensed agent who can provide professional advice on which coverage to choose."
Individuals whose Medicare plans are no longer available should have already received notice from their health insurance provider. If your plan is no longer available, then consumers have until the end of the month or they will automatically be enrolled for Basic Medicare which doesn't include prescription drug coverage and other benefits provided by Medicare Advantage.
There are three choices for seniors every open enrollment period: get a new Medicare Advantage plan, choose a Medigap plan, or do nothing.
"It's very important for beneficiaries to review their Medicare coverage for next year. Make sure you're a proactive consumer so you're not stuck with a Medicare plan that doesn't work for you," added Colwell.
