HARTFORD, Conn., Dec. 22, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The "14th annual Northeast Fishing & Hunting Expo" is coming Friday, February 18 through Sunday, February 20, 2011 to the Connecticut Convention Center at 100 Columbus Blvd. in Hartford, Conn. Hours are: Friday, February 18 from 12 noon to 8 p.m.; Saturday, February 19 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and Sunday, February 20 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The Expo features hundreds of booths showcasing the latest products for fishing and hunting enthusiasts and is designed as a great outing for the entire family. More than 65 hours of seminars by expert fishermen and hunters and hands-on activities are included with admission.
"Attendees will discover the newest fishing, hunting and outdoor equipment by some of the top manufacturers and can purchase a variety of products," explains Kristie Gonsalves, President of North East Expos, Inc., the show's organizer. "They will meet charter boat captains, check out new models of fishing boats, enjoy interactive activities, and see many demonstrations of fly casting and fly tying."
Expert Fishing presenters include: NESN, ESPN 2 and World Fishing Network's "Mad Fisherman" Charlie Moore (on Saturday); Fly-fishing experts Marla Blair, Dave Brandt, and Ed Mitchell; Charter Boat Captains Capt. Lynn Smith, Capt. Blaine Anderson, Capt. Bill Brown, Capt. Kyle Douton, Capt. Greg DuBrule, Capt. Bruce Millar, and Capt. Jim White. There will be close to a dozen Fly-Tiers including Bruce Marino, Robert Mead and Leslie Wrixon.
Expert Hunting presenters include: Dick Scorzafava, big game hunter, TV host and author of the "Radical Bowhunter," Kate and Peter Fiduccia a/k/a The Deer Doctor, host of Outdoor Channel's "Wood n' Water" series; Del DelMastro and Archery Tackle & Urban Deer Hunting; and WhiteTail Solutions, a Deer Management organization based in Oxford, Conn.
Hands-On Activities include: Ocean fishing skill testing on a Virtual Reality Fishing Simulator; live fishing at a Catch & Release Trout Pond – if you catch a tagged fish, you win a child's rod and reel; panning for gold; NRA Laser Shooting Range; Talons! Birds of Prey; a Blue Trail Range and Crosman Air Shooting Range for youth; Sportmen's Outpost's archery range; and Kids' Bass Casting Competition sponsored by the Connecticut Bass Federation Booth.
The Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection staff will have all of the latest rules and regulations, dealing with wildlife, fisheries, hunting and fishing for the coming season. For the first time in years, Expo attendees will be able to purchase Connecticut fishing and hunting licenses, permits or tags at the event.
