Cycle30 Migrates GCI Cable Television Service to Hosted Order-to-Cash Platform Based on Comverse BSS Solution

Completes Conversion of All GCI Consumer Services Onto Converged BSS System

WAKEFIELD, Mass., Jan. 4, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Comverse, a world leader in billing and active customer management, and Cycle30, a wholly owned subsidiary of General Communication Inc. (GCI) (Nasdaq:GNCMA), today announced that the cable TV services provided by Alaska's largest telecommunications and cable provider have been successfully converted to Cycle30's hosted billing platform, powered by Comverse BSS.

The cable conversion completes the migration of all of GCI's consumer services — cable, wireless, wireline, and Internet — to Cycle30's hosted order-to-cash solution, based on Comverse BSS, and allows the decommissioning of a legacy system. The fully converged approach increases GCI's ability to support a broad range of interaction opportunities. Similarly, the Comverse-based platform will benefit subscribers with an improved customer experience, greater control, and more choice.

"GCI is pleased with how efficiently the BSS conversion project was executed from start to finish," said Ron Duncan, CEO of GCI.

"By managing all of its services – including cable – with a modern, hosted order-to-cash platform, GCI is better positioned for future growth," said Jim Dunlap, President of Cycle30. "A converged billing platform will empower GCI to bring new products to market in record time and deliver even greater levels of personalized service to customers."

"Leveraging Comverse BSS capabilities, we believe that Cycle30 can enable mid-tier service providers throughout North America to revitalize the end-customer experience while boosting business performance," continued Dunlap. "Having a proven business partner who has already been there enables operators to focus on their customers while we deliver powerful, flexible order-to-cash services to optimize their revenue and customer satisfaction together."

"In today's complex multi-play environment, Comverse BSS, reinforced by Comverse Professional Services, is the key asset in enabling operators to realize significant cost savings, drive revenue, and enable growth," said Garrison Macri, SVP North America at Comverse. "Whether it is for wireline, wireless, Internet services or cable, Comverse BSS provides a robust, flexible and reliable solution for any provider."
