BURLINGTON, VT--(Marketwire - February 9, 2011) - Seventh Generation today announced that its Board of Directors has named John Replogle to serve as the company's Chief Executive Officer and President.
Replogle, 45, has served since January 2006 as President and Chief Executive Officer of Burt's Bees, the leading Earth-friendly, natural personal care products company. Replogle previously spent three years at Unilever as General Manager, Skin Care, North America. Prior to joining Unilever, Replogle served eight years with Diageo as President of Guinness Bass Import Company, Managing Director of Guinness Great Britain and had several roles in Marketing, Sales and Strategy with Diageo. Replogle started his career as a Case Leader with the Boston Consulting Group.
Peter Graham, Seventh Generation's Chairman, said that the Seventh Generation board unanimously selected Replogle based on his track record leading a complex organization, his demonstrated commitment to Corporate Responsibility, as well as his strong executive and personal qualities.
"John came to our attention because of his strong execution skills, his proven ability to lead top performing teams and his track record in championing and embracing sustainability," said Graham. "As we got to know John, we were impressed by his understanding of the role of culture in a company's success and his personal integrity. We are thrilled to have someone of John's caliber, background and proven passion for the company vision and mission leading our community forward," continued Graham. "Under John's leadership, the Board is confident that it has taken the steps necessary to ensure that Seventh Generation's untapped growth potential is fully realized in the years ahead, both financially and in our continued efforts to make our world a safer place for our children and the next seven generations."
Replogle's appointment ends a CEO search commenced by the Seventh Generation Board following the September resignation of Chuck Maniscalco, who joined the company in 2009, replacing company founder, Jeffrey Hollender, as CEO. Maniscalco agreed to stay on through the transition. "On behalf of the Seventh Generation community, we would like to thank Chuck for his many positive contributions to the Company and wish him all the best in his future endeavors," said Graham.
Replogle said, "For twenty three years Seventh Generation has been a pioneer in sustainable household products. Today, it is the leading "green" brand in the household space and continues to grow as more consumers discover the benefits of using safer, natural cleaning products. I am delighted with the company's mission and culture and fit with my own personal values. I've been impressed by the passion of the people for the clear purpose on which the company was founded. It's a great honor to join its leadership team and have the opportunity to build on its success."
Replogle will take up his new duties on March 7. A brief biography is below.
