SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - March 1, 2011) - Today at GDC, Unity Technologies, provider of the Unity development platform for games and interactive 3D on the web, iOS, Android, consoles and beyond, announced that, Rochard, the first game authored on the Unity platform for the PlayStation®Network, will be shown at Unity Technologies' booth #1416. Developed by Recoil Games founded by former Remedy Entertainment team members and published by Sony Online Entertainment LLC, Rochard is scheduled to be released this spring and features the adventures of hero John Rochard as he manipulates gravity in inventive ways to solve puzzles, defeat enemies and bring down the most evil of bosses.
"As development on Rochard began, our team was blown away by the capabilities of the Unity platform," said Kalle Kaivola, Producer at Recoil Games. "We found our designers could dive into scripts and build functioning prototypes independently and nail down core gameplay elements efficiently by editing objects in run-time. Unity allows us so much flexibility; it was clearly the most powerful engine choice we could hope for Rochard."
"Unity has become the 3D authoring platform of choice for more than 400,000 developers and our vision has always been to build a unified platform for game development that offers the broadest market support," said David Helgason, CEO of Unity Technologies. "Last year we introduced support for the PlayStation®3 and are excited to support the first commercial releases on the platform. In the future we look forward to continuing to expand the reach of our customers' games to new platforms and audiences."
Unity provides a real-time 3D authoring tool for the video games industry. With a community of developers and with thousands of Unity-authored video game titles available on the Web, PC, Mac, iOS, Android, PS3™, Xbox 360, and Wii, Unity is the industry's leading game development platform and middleware company. Unity's customers range from small, independent video game studios to large publishers such as Electronic Arts, Warner Bros. and Cartoon Network. Games like Bigpoint's Battlestar Galactica Online and Electronic Arts' Tiger Woods PGA TOUR Online are created with and powered by Unity.

About Rochard
Rochard, an action packed side-scrolling puzzle platformer for the PlayStation®Network, follows the story of the humble astro-miner John Rochard as he uses his wits and everyday mining tools to fend off space pirates, save his team of missing miners and solve the mystery behind the discovery of an ancient alien artifact. Rochard tests players' coordination and wits as they manipulate gravity to their advantage, changing it at will to solve environmental puzzles and advance through each level. By using the upgradable G-Lifter, the main tool of the game, players can lift and maneuver heavy objects around the environment, and eventually swing, jump and propel themselves huge distances throughout each level. Rochard is slated for release this spring on the PlayStation®Network. It has not yet been rated by the ESRB. For more information, please visit www.rochardthegame.com.
