Benefits of Viking Systems' 3DHD Vision System to be Presented at Sages 2011


WESTBOROUGH, Mass., March 16, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Viking Systems, Inc. (OTCBB:VKNG), a leading worldwide developer, manufacturer and marketer of 3D and 2D visualization solutions for complex minimally invasive surgery, announced today that its 3DHD Vision System will be the topic of a presentation at the 2011 annual meeting of the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES), March 30 – April 2, 2011 in San Antonio, Texas.

For the seventh year, SAGES, as part of the SAGES Technology Initiative, will present the Emerging Technology Session. Surgeons, physicians and scientists from academic centers as well as industry have been invited to submit abstracts for presentation. The submission guidelines indicate that topics reflecting "late breaking", "cutting-edge" or novel information are greatly encouraged.

At the upcoming SAGES meeting, J. Esteban Varela MD, Brian Benway MD and Gerald Andriole MD from the Department of Surgery, Washington University, St. Louis School of Medicine, will present their findings on their "Initial Experience with the Viking 3D/HD Laparoscopic System." Dr. Varela will present at this session on Friday, April 1st at 1:30 PM.
