SAN JOSE, CA and AMSTERDAM, THE NETHERLANDS--(Marketwire - March 29, 2011) - Ajax.org, provider of Cloud9 IDE, the first commercial development-as-a-service (DaaS) platform, today announced that Brendan Eich has joined the company's advisory board. Eich is widely known for his contributions to the evolution of the Web as creator of JavaScript and CTO of Mozilla. After creating the scripting language that would revolutionize the way we look at and experience browsers, he went on to found Mozilla.org as their Chief Architect. After serving on the Board of Directors, Eich was later named Mozilla Corporation's Chief Technical Officer, where his primary focus is improving the company's star product: Firefox.
"We are very pleased to have Brendan join our board," said Ajax CEO Ruben Daniels. "Brendan significantly strengthens our board with his wealth of knowledge and expertise in JavaScript and HTML5 development. We look forward to receiving his valuable insights as our company moves forward with the advancement and promotion of Cloud9, designed to deliver even more rewarding user experiences for the community of JavaScript developers."
The news comes just two weeks after the commercial launch of Cloud9 IDE by Ajax.org, the first cloud-based Integrated Development Environment. Cloud9 IDE utilizes JavaScript to incorporate HTML5 and support Python, Ruby and PHP like never before. Running completely in-browser, Cloud9 IDE will provide a true cloud development environment where users can quickly develop and deploy web and mobile apps online, anywhere, anytime.
Combined with Eich's expansive knowledge of JavaScript and influence in the browser community, along with Ajax.org's utilization of JavaScript as a development tool, there seem to be no limitations to what Ajax.org and their Cloud9 IDE can do for the future of JavaScript and its community of developers.
