Employers Group Receives $400,000 State Grant; Announces Lean Productivity Awards

LOS ANGELES, March 30, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Employers Group, a non-profit human resources consulting firm, received its seventh consecutive training contract from California's Employment Training Panel (ETP). Employers Group has trained more than 10,000 employees from 325 businesses through the ETP program.

The contract will provide training to at least 450 employees at companies throughout California. Eligible employers can choose from a variety of skill-building training programs including topics in productivity improvement, manufacturing skills, business skills, computer skills and more.  All training is delivered on-site at the company's location.  Employers Group's program provides one-point access to state training funds:  Employers Group delivers the training and handles all state-mandated administration requirements.

"On behalf of California employers and Employers Group member organizations, we have been very fortunate to be awarded these training funds given the current economic environment. This program and funding will serve to not only increase the skills of California workers, but will improve processes, productivity and profits for employers," said Jeffrey Hull, Learning Services Director with Employers Group.  "Companies wishing to see these results should take advantage of the funding while it lasts.  This funding contract is dramatically less than what was available in the past."  Hull advised.

In related news to state-funded training, Employers Group announced they will be recognizing three companies who have achieved process improvement gains made within their respective organizations at the third annual Lean Institute Awards ceremony, April 13 in Orange County.  Many companies who have been part of Employers Group's "Lean Institute" had utilized a prior state contract where they received training in lean process improvement and 5S methodologies.

The award ceremony and a brief lean orientation program will be held on April 13 from 9:00 – 11:00a.m. at the Hotel Huntington Beach.  All manufacturing and service-related businesses are invited to learn how the Lean Institute can improve their organizations.  Awarded companies will showcase their process improvements.  There is a $25 registration fee to attend.  Additional information will be provided on how organizations can participate in the state-funded training program and lean competition for 2011.
