Loomis is investing electrically powered Cash in Transit vehicles

 

Through its Danish subsidiary, Loomis will be one of the world's first
Cash Handling Services companies to make full scale use of electric
vehicles for Cash in Transit. As part of a pilot project, Loomis will
test electrically powered Cash in Transit vehicles from Mercedes Benz,
which are specially equipped for Cash in Transit. Loomis' ambition is
for all Cash in Transit in the Copenhagen region to be carried out with
electrically powered vehicles, the first metropolitan region in the 14
countries in which Loomis is operative.

If the test proves to be a success, Loomis intends to purchase more
electrically powered vehicles, for operations both in Denmark and in
other countries. The vehicles are most suited to urban areas, where the
mileage is limited and the vehicles make several stops.

- This investment is a part of our environmental work. Our primary
impact on the environment is made through our vehicles. Therefore, we
would like to purchase the most energy-efficient vehicles possible,
without compromising on security. Through a transition to electrically
powered vehicles, in the regions where this is suitable, we can
significantly reduce our carbon dioxide emissions, states Loomis
President Lars Blecko.

Other measures which Loomis is taking to reduce its carbon dioxide
emissions include a continuous effort to optimize the Cash in Transit
vehicles' routes and reduce mileage, as well as training drivers in
environmentally economic driving, so-called eco-driving.
