NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - Apr 27, 2011) - VERANDA, the lifestyle magazine for tastemakers, will present "VERANDA UnVEILS: The House of Windsor," the ultimate luxury home for today's modern family, this summer in Los Angeles. In partnership with "Lifestyle Architect" and the project's concept designer Windsor Smith, VERANDA and a team of leading designers and landscape architects, will showcase effortless luxury living. The team joining Smith to create the 8,000 square foot estate is Candace Barnes, Stephen Block, Peter Dunham, Richard Hallberg, Kathryn Ireland, Martyn Lawrence-Bullard, David Phoenix, Paul Robbins, Richard Shapiro, and Tara Shaw.
"The definition of luxury is changing. People want to surround themselves with beauty and quality, but they also want their homes to be comfortable and welcoming," said Dara Caponigro, editor-in-chief of VERANDA. "Windsor Smith's design philosophy of livable luxury embodies the magazine's point-of-view of redefining luxury."
The House of Windsor is a Georgian style house that sits on an acre of land with a dressage stable and horse path that leads to the Sullivan Riding Ring. The estate has an East Coast sensibility but designed for California's quintessential indoor and outdoor living -- it's a city house with a country feel.
"I've reflected a lot about how families live today and this home is a culmination of my philosophies for how architecture and design can support our fast-paced lifestyles," said Windsor Smith. "Together with VERANDA, I've enlisted some of my favorite design peers to expand on these themes. I'm thrilled and honored to be working with them on this project."
On Tuesday, June 7, VERANDA will host a gala event to reveal The House of Windsor. Gala tickets are available for $250 and a portion of ticket sales will benefit two charities: the Children's Action Network, an organization dedicated to increasing awareness about children's issues, and P.S. Arts, an organization whose mission is to improve children's lives through arts education.
From June 8 through June 12, VERANDA will curate and host a series of events that will bring all aspects of the magazine to life. Design devotees, style-conscious readers and culinary enthusiasts searching for inspiration and entertaining ideas are invited to attend seminars with VERANDA editors, the project's team of designers, respected chefs, and sponsors.
June 13 through 26, the signature space will be open for public house tours. Tickets for the house tours are available for $30 in advance and $35 at the door.
