MANCHESTER, NH--(Marketwire - Jun 7, 2011) - Newforma®, a project information management (PIM) software company connectingarchitecture, engineering and construction firms worldwide, today announced that the benefits of PIM will be highlighted in two presentations at the AEC Technology Strategies 2011 Conference, being held June 9-10 in La Jolla, Calif.
At this 12th annual information technology conference for forward-thinking business and IT leaders in architecture, engineering, and construction, attendees can attend two sessions to learn more about how implementing a PIM strategy can help drive more efficient and more predictable project delivery.
At 4:30 p.m. PDT on Thursday, June 9, Newforma Co-founder and Chief Product Officer Allen Preger will present "How the Newforma PIM Solution Connects Architecture, Engineering and Construction Firms" during a solution provider showcase session. Preger will provide a high-level overview of the recently released Newforma PIM solution including Newforma Project Center Eighth Edition and its three new add-on products: Newforma Mobile, Newforma Contract Management, and Newforma Add-in for Autodesk Revit. He will discuss how the new expanded solution helps architects, engineers and construction firms enhance connection and communication between project team members to manage project delivery processes. He will explain how the Newforma PIM solution is helping them manage many aspects of their day-to-day activities, including contract and document change, relating information inside a building information model with project information outside of BIM, and accessing project information from mobile devices such as smartphones and iPads to work more efficiently from the field. Newforma is also sponsoring the cocktail reception that follows, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. PDT.
Then, at 9:45 a.m. PDT on Friday, June 10, during a focus session, Newforma Co-founder and Senior Technical Advisor Jim Forester, P.E. will present "Technology Frameworks for Project Teams," addressing how AECO businesses must overcome new legal, social and technical challenges. Forester will cite real-world examples of how CIOs at some of the industry's top firms are continually evolving their IT infrastructures to take advantage of the latest technologies such as virtualization, cloud computing and mobile devices for a workforce that is constantly on the go. He will explore how a firm's infrastructure must evolve to accommodate the growing demand for the ability to ensure transparency, maintain accountability, manage complexity and facilitate communication in the face of an ever-expanding volume of information that needs to be managed to deliver a project.
"Forward-thinking architects, engineers and construction firms are faced with a multitude of challenges as they strive to meet and exceed client expectations for project delivery. Their technology infrastructure must continually evolve to accommodate new requirements including workforce mobility, model-based design, LEED certification and integrated project delivery," said Newforma Chief Executive Officer Ian Howell. "These conference sessions will help A, E and C firms understand how PIM is being adopted by leading firms to help navigate these challenges."
